Why it matters. Holding-down bolts, furniture, fixtures — the mark has to say which room or pad. A 3D bounding-box test would report the whole set as ungrouped.
What VI MCP does. Grouped numbering tests containment in plan and throws Z away on purpose. A pile hanging below its cap is inside in the only sense a drawing means.
